Anahita Mukherjee Joins Ascendus Law Partners as Counsel, Bolstering Media and Entertainment Practice

Anahita Mukherjee has joined Ascendus Law Partners as Counsel, the Delhi-based firm announced on August 14, 2026. The appointment strengthens the firm’s media and entertainment practice with a specialist who brings nearly a decade of in-house experience across India’s leading studios and networks.

Mukherjee joins from a career spanning Fox Star Studios, Disney Star, The Walt Disney Company, and Maddock Films. Her practice covers the full content lifecycle — from development through distribution — encompassing chain of title, rights availability, production and co-production documentation, talent engagements, content licensing, music syndication, brand placements, and distribution and syndication agreements across theatrical, television, and digital platforms.

Education Background and Career Progression

Education

Anahita Mukherjee holds a B.B.A. LL.B. degree from Symbiosis Law School, Pune.

Career Journey

Over nearly a decade, Mukherjee built her expertise entirely in-house at some of India’s most prominent entertainment companies. She worked across Fox Star Studios, Disney Star, and The Walt Disney Company, gaining deep transactional experience in content deals at the studio level. She also served at Maddock Films, one of India’s prominent independent production houses. Her work consistently spanned the full spectrum of content agreements across theatrical, television, and digital platforms.

What the Firm Said

Vasundhra Minocha, Founding Partner at Ascendus Law Partners, said: “Anahita has spent a decade on the other side of the table, inside studios and networks, structuring content deals from development through to distribution. That experience adds real depth to a practice we are already building and it will help us grow it faster and serve clients better. Media and entertainment is a priority area for the firm and she is central to how we intend to build it. We are delighted to welcome Anahita to Ascendus.”

Mukherjee herself added: “I am thrilled to be joining Vasundhra and Siddharth at Ascendus Law Partners. We have known each other for nearly 15 years, and it has been wonderful to see what they have built and achieved with Ascendus. I am very excited to now be part of this journey, to bring my experience in media and entertainment law to the firm and to collaborate with them and the wider team as we continue to build, grow and scale Ascendus together. While media and entertainment will continue to be at the heart of my practice, I am equally excited about the new and diverse avenues that Ascendus will open up for me.”

Strategic Significance

Mukherjee’s appointment signals a deliberate push by Ascendus Law Partners to grow its media and entertainment vertical. Her decade of in-house experience — spanning major studios, streaming-era networks, and independent production — gives the firm a practitioner who has negotiated and structured content deals from the inside, a perspective that distinguishes her from lawyers who have operated exclusively in private practice. For clients seeking transactional counsel in a rapidly evolving content landscape, this hire meaningfully deepens the firm’s capability.
