Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 10 June 2026

Welcome to thecourtroom.in (the “Site”), operated by The Courtroom (“we,” “us,” or “our”). These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Site and its content. By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age, or accessing the Site under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian, and capable of entering into a binding agreement under Indian law. By using the Site, you confirm that you meet these requirements.

2. Use of the Site

You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of, restrict, or inhibit anyone else’s use of the Site. You may read, share, and reference our content for personal and non-commercial purposes, subject to the intellectual property terms below.

3. Accounts and subscriptions

Certain features may require you to create an account or subscribe to a plan. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date.

Where a subscription involves payment, the applicable fees, billing cycle, and renewal terms will be displayed at the point of purchase. Recurring subscriptions continue until cancelled by you in accordance with the stated process. We reserve the right to change our plans and pricing, with notice where required.

4. Acceptable use

When using the Site — including posting comments or submitting material — you agree not to:

  • Post anything unlawful, defamatory, obscene, harassing, misleading, or infringing on another’s rights;
  • Impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation;
  • Upload viruses, malicious code, or attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorised access to the Site;
  • Use automated tools to scrape, copy, or harvest content without our permission;
  • Use the Site to advertise or solicit without our consent.

We reserve the right — but are not obliged — to moderate, edit, or remove any content, and to suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms.

5. User-submitted content

When you submit comments, tips, or other material, you retain ownership of it but grant The Courtroom a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, reproduce, edit, publish, and display that material in connection with the Site and its promotion. You confirm that you have the right to submit it and that it does not infringe any third party’s rights. Views expressed in user content are those of the individual, not of The Courtroom.

6. Intellectual property

All original content on the Site — including articles, analysis, headlines, graphics, logos, and design — is owned by or licensed to The Courtroom and is protected under applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, republish, distribute, or commercially exploit our content without prior written permission, except for brief quotation with proper attribution and a link to the original.

Names of courts, regulators, law firms, companies, and individuals are used for news reporting and identification; all such trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.

We make reasonable efforts to use images and media that are either owned by us, properly licensed, in the public domain, or used under fair-dealing principles for news reporting and commentary, with attribution where appropriate. If you are the owner of any image or material appearing on the Site and believe it has been used without proper authorisation, please contact us at contact@thecourtroom.in with details and proof of ownership. We will promptly review the request and remove or credit the material as appropriate. We do not knowingly infringe any third party’s intellectual property rights.

7. Content is not legal advice

The Site publishes journalism and general information, not legal advice. Our content should not be relied upon for any legal, financial, or business decision, and creates no advocate–client relationship. Please refer to our full Disclaimer for details, which forms part of these Terms.

8. Third-party links

The Site may link to external websites and sources. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of those sites, and links do not imply endorsement.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The Site and its content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that content will always be accurate or current.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Courtroom, its team, contributors, and partners shall not be liable for any loss or damage — direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential — arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Site or its content, or from reliance on anything published here.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Courtroom and its team from any claims, damages, or expenses arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Site, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

12. Privacy

Your use of the Site is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect and handle your personal data in line with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

13. Suspension and termination

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to the Site or your account at any time, without notice, if we believe you have breached these Terms or applicable law. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnity — will continue to apply.

14. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising out of or relating to the Site or these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in India.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. The version posted here, with its “Last updated” date, is the one that applies. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
