Anjana Potti Joins Samvād: Partners as Equity Partner

Anjana J Potti has joined Samvād: Partners as an Equity Partner, marking one of the more significant lateral moves in India’s banking and finance bar this month. She moves to the firm’s Bengaluru office along with her team. Potti was previously a Partner at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co.

The move brings over 21 years of specialised experience in banking and financial services, debt capital markets, debt restructuring, and structured financing into Samvād: Partners‘ existing corporate and dispute resolution platform. Her arrival comes as SAM navigates a notable wave of partner departures in June 2026.

Education Background and Career Progression

Education

Anjana J Potti is a 2005 alumna of the National Law School of India University, Bangalore.

Career Journey

Potti began her legal career and over the years built her practice across JSA and Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas before moving to Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co., where she served as Partner. Across these stints, she developed a practice spanning domestic and international banks, NBFCs, private credit and special situations funds, multilateral development finance institutions, alternative investment platforms, and asset reconstruction companies. Her work covers lending, securitisation, debt issuances, treasury transactions, insolvency, and restructuring. She also carries significant experience advising on listed and unlisted bond issuances as both investor and issuer counsel, including in the infrastructure sector.

What the Firm Said

Vineetha MG, Partner at Samvād: Partners, welcomed the move:

> “We are excited to welcome Anjana to the Samvād family. Her remarkable expertise and over two decades of distinguished experience in banking and financial services makes her an extraordinary addition to our team. Anjana’s deep knowledge and stellar track record will undoubtedly elevate our banking and finance practice to unprecedented heights, and we could not be more excited about the journey ahead together.”

Natasha Mahajan, Partner, added:

> “We are delighted to welcome Anjana to the partnership. Her deep expertise in banking and finance law strengthens our practice significantly, and we are confident that her addition to the Firm will mark an exciting new chapter in our growth. We are very glad to have her and look forward to the work that we will accomplish together.”

On her decision to join, Potti said:

> “Joining the team at Samvād is a fantastic opportunity to combine my banking and finance background and the firm’s existing market reputation. Bringing my practice to Samvād creates synergy between my specific sector experience and the firm’s corporate and dispute resolution capabilities. I look forward to working with the team to build on this collective strength.”

Strategic Significance

Potti‘s arrival materially deepens Samvād: Partners‘ banking and finance capability at a time when the firm is actively building its transactional bench. Her two-decade track record across lender-side and borrower-side mandates, including structured finance, securitisation, and infrastructure debt, positions Samvād to compete more directly for complex capital markets and special situations work out of Bengaluru.
