Delhi Court Grants Bail to Arvind Kejriwal in ED Summons Case

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Receives Bail in Liquor Policy Scam Investigation

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was granted bail by a Delhi court on Saturday in the case related to summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to him in the liquor policy scam case.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Divya Malhotra of Rouse Avenue Courts directed Kejriwal to furnish a bail bond of Rs 15,000 and a surety of like amount.

The court scheduled the matter for hearing on April 1, during which Kejriwal’s application under Section 207 of CrPC (supply to the accused copy of police report and other documents) will be heard.

Additionally, the ACMM instructed the ED to file a reply to the application.

The agency stated that Kejriwal was summoned to investigate the alleged involvement of several individuals, including himself, in the excise policy scam and to trace the proceeds of the alleged crime.

The investigation agency is probing corruption allegations in the Delhi excise policy 2021-22 and has already apprehended two senior members of the Aam Aadmi Party, Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, and submitted six charge sheets related to the case.

Although Kejriwal has been referenced in the ED charge sheets, neither the ED nor the CBI, conducting a concurrent investigation, have formally accused him.
