Anupam Prasad Joins White & Brief as Partner, Merges AP Law Chambers with Full-Service Firm

Anupam Prasad has joined White & Brief as a Partner in its Corporate & Commercial Practice, bringing with him nearly two decades of transactional experience. In a significant structural move, Prasad has merged his boutique firm, AP Law Chambers, with White & Brief, rather than making a conventional lateral transition.

The merger expands White & Brief‘s corporate bench and geographic footprint while folding in the team that Prasad had built at AP Law Chambers. The combined practice is positioned to serve clients on complex domestic and cross-border matters across multiple jurisdictions.

Education Background and Career Progression

Education

Anupam Prasad is a 2006 alumnus of the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences.

Career Journey

Prasad began his legal career at Nishith Desai Associates and Khaitan & Co, two of India’s most prominent law firms, where he built his foundational transactional expertise. He subsequently served as Partner at RDA Legal and then at IndusLaw, consolidating his standing in corporate and commercial law.

He later founded AP Law Chambers, a boutique corporate and commercial law firm, which he led until its merger with White & Brief. Over the course of his career, Prasad has advised Indian multinationals, private equity funds, venture capital investors, founders, and promoters on complex domestic and cross-border transactions spanning the US, UK, Germany, France, UAE, Korea, and Mauritius.

What the Firm Said

Welcoming the move, Nilesh Tribhuvann, Founder and Managing Partner of White & Brief, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Anupam and his team. Anupam is widely respected for his transactional expertise and client-centric approach, and his arrival significantly strengthens our corporate and commercial practice.”

Prasad himself commented on the rationale behind the merger:

“White & Brief has built a remarkable full-service platform, deep litigation and regulatory strength, genuine multidisciplinary expertise and a client-first culture. The legal and business landscape continues to evolve, and clients increasingly seek seamless access to multidisciplinary expertise and nationwide reach. The merger of AP Law Chambers with White & Brief reflects that evolution. This combination expands the service offerings, strengthens our bench, and extends our geographic reach, while preserving the responsiveness and partner-led approach that have defined our practice. This merger marks a significant milestone in my professional journey. I am grateful to those who have supported AP Law Chambers since its founding, and I look forward to working with White & Brief to build a leading Indian law firm equipped for today’s complex business demands.”

Strategic Significance

Anupam Prasad‘s arrival, structured as a merger rather than a lateral hire, delivers an immediate team uplift to White & Brief‘s Corporate & Commercial Practice. His cross-border transactional track record — spanning PE, VC, and multinational mandates across seven international jurisdictions — materially deepens the firm’s capacity to handle high-complexity deals, complementing the firm’s existing litigation and regulatory strengths.
