Shiloh Jolie Seeks to Remove ‘Pitt’ from Surname
Shiloh Jolie , daughter of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, has filed a legal request to change her surname from Shiloh Pitt to Shiloh Jolie. This move follows her 18th birthday on May 27 and the removal of “Pitt” from her Instagram profile, as reported by TMZ.
Pitt’s Children Distancing Themselves
Shiloh Jolie’s decision comes shortly after her sister Vivienne, 15, also seemingly dropped “Pitt” from her name. Vivienne, involved in the production of the Broadway musical “The Outsiders,” is listed as Vivienne Jolie in the Playbill.
Reports indicate that Zahara, Maddox, Pax, and Knox, the other children Pitt shares with Jolie, no longer use his surname either. Shiloh is the first to make this change legally. Since Pitt, 60, and Jolie, 48, separated in 2016 after a 12-year relationship, strained relations between Pitt and his children have been frequently reported.
Zahara and Pax Follow Suit
Last year, Zahara, 19, was introduced to her university’s sorority as Zahara Marley Jolie, excluding her father’s surname. In a private Instagram post, their son Pax, 20, reportedly called Pitt a “world-class ahle” and a “fing awful human being,” criticizing his lack of empathy toward his youngest children.
Allegations of Abuse
Jolie initiated the divorce after a private flight incident in September 2016, during which Pitt allegedly engaged in physical abuse. Reports from The New York Times claimed Pitt choked one child, struck another, and grabbed Jolie by the head. Pitt also allegedly poured beer on Jolie and wine on the children. Although Pitt denied the allegations and was not charged following an investigation, the incident significantly impacted the family dynamics.
Earlier this year, Jolie’s legal team claimed Pitt’s history of physical abuse preceded the 2016 plane incident, but the event marked the first time he directed his physical aggression towards the children, prompting Jolie to leave the relationship immediately.
