Hindu Side Requests ASI Survey in Gyanvapi Mosque Case; Hearing Set for September 18

In the Gyanvapi mosque case on Wednesday, the Hindu side requested the court to permit the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to conduct a survey by digging at the site

The Civil Judge Senior Division Fast Track Court, Jugal Shambhu, has scheduled the next hearing for September 18 to address this petition. The Muslim side’s representatives, who were present, are expected to present their arguments at the upcoming hearing.

Advocate Madan Mohan Yadav, representing the Hindu side, noted that the Hindu party completed its arguments and requested that the ASI be allowed to dig at the site for further examination. The Hindu side claims that the original Jyotirlinga is located beneath the dome of the Gyanvapi mosque, and that the water previously flowing from the ‘Argha’ into the Gyanvapi Kund was believed to offer spiritual knowledge, thus making the site a pilgrimage destination known as ‘Gyanoday Tirth’.

The Hindu side has also called for an exploration of the water source by experts and requested an examination of the ‘Shivling’ found at the site, which the Muslim side refers to as a ‘wuzukhana,’ to determine its true nature.
