Lawyer’s Bravery Sparks Action: Clerk Faces Charges After Elevator Incident

A woman lawyer at the Calcutta High Court has reported being molested by a clerk in an empty elevator on September 23. According to the Times of India, the accused, who works for an advocate, had previously made attempts to gain the lawyer’s trust by offering assistance with her cases.

Despite her warnings to him, the clerk allegedly misbehaved during the elevator incident. Following the event, the lawyer confided in her colleagues, who confronted the clerk in the courtroom and reportedly slapped him.

The lawyers then informed the nearest police station, resulting in the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) against the clerk under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for molestation and related offenses.
