A Delhi court on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, issued summons to former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, his son and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, along with others, in connection with a money laundering case related to the land-for-jobs scandal.
Special Judge Vishal Gogne instructed the accused to appear before the court on October 7. The summons came after the judge took cognizance of a supplementary charge sheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
The ED submitted its final report on August 6, following an FIR registered by the CBI. The case revolves around Group-D appointments made in the West Central Railway Zone in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, during Lalu Prasad’s tenure as Railway Minister between 2004 and 2009. According to the ED, in exchange for these job appointments, recruits transferred or gifted land parcels to Lalu Prasad’s family or close associates.
