Aditya Vikram Bhat Leaves AZB & Partners to Start Independent Practice

Aditya Vikram Bhat, formerly a senior partner at AZB & Partners, has embarked on his own independent legal practice.

Bhat began his career under the guidance of KG Raghavan and Arun Kumar, who later merged their practice with Dua Associates and were appointed senior advocates by the Karnataka High Court.

Bhat joined AZB in 2004 and remarked, “The firm and I evolved together. I was part of the firm’s senior partnership for many years before deciding to branch out on my own.” He shared a deep connection with the firm, noting, “AZB was my home for 20 of the 21 years I’ve been practicing. Although I’ve left AZB, it will remain a significant part of me. I continue to work on numerous matters for the firm and hope to keep receiving mentorship from Zia. Nevertheless, I wanted to focus more on court work with a smaller footprint.”

Bhat describes himself as “a generalist” with extensive experience in litigating and arbitrating shareholder disputes, company legislation issues, complex commercial disputes, and fraud cases, especially within the corporate sector. He has also dealt with matters under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), the Prevention of Corruption Act, and broader white-collar crimes. Additionally, Bhat has built expertise in advising regulated professionals like chartered accountants, company secretaries, and lawyers, and has considerable experience in constitutional matters.

Having primarily practiced in Bengaluru, Bhat anticipates being particularly active in these areas as he begins his independent practice.
