Bus Accident in Delhi: Woman Killed, 24 Injured in Collision with Metro Pillar

A tragic accident occurred in West Delhi’s Punjabi Bagh area on Monday morning when an electric bus collided with a metro pillar, resulting in the death of a 45-year-old woman and injuries to 24 other passengers.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West), Vichitra Veer, reported that the incident was first communicated via a PCR call to the Punjabi Bagh Police Station around 7:42 am. The collision occurred near Shivaji Park on Rohtak Road, where the electric bus, operating on the Mongolpuri-Anand Vihar route, crashed into a metro pillar. The abrupt braking by the bus driver caused an auto-rickshaw to crash into the bus from behind.

The accident claimed the life of one woman and left a 55-year-old person in critical condition. Among the 24 injured passengers, 14 were taken to Maharaja Agrasen Hospital, while the remaining 10 were transported to Acharya Bhikshu Hospital.

A police officer stated that a case has been registered under rash driving and causing death by negligence as per the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The crime team has been dispatched to the scene, forensic samples are being collected, and a mechanical inspection of the bus is underway.
