Warburg Pincus acquires majority stake in furniture fittings maker EBCO

Khaitan & Co advised EBCO (Company) and its promoters on the sale of majority stake to Black Cherry Investments, an investment vehicle of Warburg Pincus LLC.

The core deal team included Niren Patel, Ashraya Rao, Kaushik Babu, Ruturaj Jere, Utsav Mitra and Akhil Wilson Thomas with assistance from Anshuman Sakle (Competition aspects), Ayush A Mehrotra (Supply chain regulatory aspects), Kabir Bogra (Regulatory aspects), Nishad Nadkarni (Intellectual Property aspects), Anshul Prakash and Abhimanyu Pal (Employment aspects) and Amit H Wadhwani (Real Estate aspects).

The company’s valuation has not been revealed. However, the promoters will maintain a substantial minority stake in Ebco and will continue to play an active role in the company’s future development. Established in 1963, Ebco is among India’s longest-standing and most well-known brands in furniture fittings and architectural hardware.
