In a tragic turn of events, Yuvraj Goyal, a 28-year-old Indian migrant who had recently achieved Canadian Permanent Resident status, fell victim to a targeted shooting in Surrey, Canada. The incident occurred on Friday, leaving Goyal’s family and community in shock and mourning.

Originally from Ludhiana, Punjab, Goyal embarked on his Canadian journey in 2019, initially arriving on a student visa. His aspiration for a brighter future led him to pursue opportunities in Canada, where he worked as a sales executive. His transition to Permanent Resident status marked a significant milestone in his pursuit of stability and success.

Hailing from a modest family background, Goyal’s father, Rajesh Goyal, manages a firewood business, while his mother, Shakun Goyal, dedicated herself to homemaking. Despite their humble beginnings, Yuvraj Goyal’s determination and hard work propelled him to achieve academic success, earning a Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) degree from Delhi University before venturing abroad.

Notably, Yuvraj Goyal maintained a clean record, with no involvement in criminal activities. However, his promising future was abruptly cut short by a targeted shooting, leaving investigators scrambling to piece together the events leading to his untimely demise.

Following the incident, law enforcement swiftly apprehended four suspects in connection with Goyal’s murder. Among them are 23-year-old Manvir Basram and 20-year-old Sahib Basra, both residents of Surrey, along with 23-year-old Harkirat Jhutty, also from Surrey, and 20-year-old Keilon Francois from Ontario. All four individuals now face charges of first-degree murder as the investigation unfolds.

Sergeant Timothy Pierotti of Canada’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) expressed gratitude for the efforts of the Surrey RCMP, Air 1, and IERT in swiftly responding to the incident.
