Swati Maliwal Case: Kejriwal’s Aide Seeks Bail Amid Allegations of Non-Cooperation

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s aide, Bhibhav Kumar, has approached a Delhi court seeking bail in the alleged assault case involving Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal case

Kumar’s counsels mentioned the matter for urgent hearing after he was remanded to four days of judicial custody. The court has issued a notice on Kumar’s bail plea and sought a response from the Delhi Police. The hearing is scheduled for Monday, with Advocates Rajat Bharadwaj and Karan Sharma representing Kumar.

Kumar, who was previously remanded to five days of police custody, will be produced in court on May 28. The FIR was registered following a written complaint by Maliwal, and Kumar was arrested on May 18.

The Delhi Police, seeking four days of judicial custody remand for Kumar, alleged non-cooperation during the investigation, including evasive answers and refusal to disclose his mobile phone password, considered crucial for the probe.

The police stated that expert reports might necessitate further confrontation with Kumar to proceed with the investigation. They also indicated that ongoing investigations in Mumbai might yield additional evidence requiring Kumar’s further confrontation. Consequently, the police requested a four-day judicial custody remand for Kumar.

Maliwal alleged that Kumar assaulted her when she visited Kejriwal’s residence on May 13.
