Swati Maliwal Assault Case: Arvind Kejriwal’s Aide, Bibhav Kumar Remanded to 5-Day Delhi Police Custody

In connection with the Swati Maliwal assault case, a Delhi court has ordered Arvind Kejriwal’s aide, Bibhav Kumar, to be remanded to Delhi Police custody for five days.

The decision was made by Judge Gaurav Goyal after hearing arguments from both the Delhi Police and Kumar’s counsels, which took place past midnight.

During the hearing, Additional Public Prosecutor (APP) Atul Srivastava, representing the Delhi Police, requested seven days of police custody for Kumar. However, Kumar’s lawyers, Rajiv Mohan and Shadan Farasat, opposed the plea, arguing that the arrest was hastily made despite Kumar having filed for anticipatory bail.

Kumar was arrested earlier in the day by the Delhi Police, rendering his anticipatory bail application moot.

Swati Maliwal, a Member of Parliament (MP) from AAP, alleges that she was assaulted by Kumar at Arvind Kejriwal’s residence. The FIR states that Kumar struck Maliwal in her chest, stomach, and pelvic area with his legs.

AAP has refuted these allegations. Additionally, several videos have emerged on social media depicting Maliwal arguing with security personnel before leaving the Chief Minister’s residence.
