Supreme Court to Review PIL Challenging NEET Super Specialty Exam 2024 Cancellation
The Supreme Court has received a public interest litigation (PIL) challenging the cancellation of the NEET Super Specialty (NEET SS) exam for 2024. A bench led by Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud, with Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, has issued a notice on the plea and allowed the inclusion of the National Board of Examinations (NBE) as a party in the case.
During the proceedings, CJI Chandrachud questioned the petition’s basis under Article 32 of the Indian Constitution. The petitioner’s advocate argued that the exam was canceled to accommodate NEET PG students, citing a fixed timeline for such exams as per the Ashish Ranjan judgment.
The NEET SS 2024 has been rescheduled for January 2025, as reported by Education Times. The delay is attributed to the classes for the 2023 Super Specialty batches starting in March 2024.
The Supreme Court is also addressing another case regarding the leakage of NEET undergraduate exam papers, with a decision expected by July 22.
