Supreme Court to Get Air-Conditioned Corridors

Supreme Court to Get Air-Conditioned Corridors Within a Week

Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud announced on Monday that the corridors of the Supreme Court will soon be air-conditioned. The installation of air-conditioning units outside at least three of the court’s halls is currently underway and is expected to be completed within a week.

CJI Chandrachud made this announcement in open court, emphasizing that special care is being taken to ensure the historic building remains undamaged during the installation process. “The corridor outside courts 1, 2, and 3 will be completely air-conditioned now. We have consulted expert agencies and IIT to prevent any damage to the historical structure. Though we aimed to finish during the vacations, it may take another week,” he stated.

Additionally, CJI Chandrachud disclosed that other improvements were made during the Supreme Court’s summer recess, which ended on Sunday. Enhancements include extended facilities for the Registrar Court, with the Registrar now serving full-time from Monday to Friday. Furthermore, new cubicles for lawyers and upgraded waiting rooms designed to match the building’s outer facade have been completed.
