Supreme Court Declines Contempt Plea Over Property Demolitions, Encourages Affected Individuals to Seek Redress
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed a contempt plea regarding property demolitions carried out by authorities in Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.
A bench comprising Justices B.R. Gavai, P.K. Mishra, and K.V. Viswanathan stated that it would not entertain the petition since the petitioner was neither directly nor indirectly involved in the alleged actions. The bench remarked, “We don’t want to open a Pandora’s box,” and suggested that those affected by the demolitions should come forward to seek justice in court.
