Senior Advocate Pradeep Rai Vows Better Facilities for Lawyers in SCBA Presidency Bid

Senior Advocate Pradeep Rai Pledges Major Improvements for SCBA in Election Campaign

Senior Advocate Pradeep Rai, a candidate for the position of President in the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), has pledged a range of improvements if elected. During a debate organized by the SCBA on Wednesday, Rai promised comprehensive medical insurance, upgraded facilities such as new chambers and a top-tier library, and initiatives for legal training in arbitration and mediation.

Rai assured lawyers of annual medical insurance coverage worth Rs 2 crore and term insurance of Rs 1 crore starting from July 2024. He also proposed the establishment of residential facilities for lawyers with the government’s assistance, including the construction of approximately 300 chambers near ITO for Supreme Court practitioners.

Furthermore, Rai pledged to develop mobile applications for legal research and enhance health facilities by providing ambulances, ICU services, and a test lab. He emphasized the importance of a better canteen and sports complex, alongside improved coordination with the Supreme Court registry regarding case listings and filings.

Highlighting the SCBA’s familial nature, Rai expressed his commitment to realistic promises and transparent leadership. He emphasized his philanthropic efforts through the India Legal Foundation, having donated Rs 13.5 crore, and clarified his non-affiliation with any political party.

The SCBA elections, scheduled for May 16, 2024, will see Rai competing against other contenders including Senior Advocates Kapil Sibal, Adish Chandra Aggarwala (the incumbent president), Priya Hingorani, as well as Advocates Neeraj Srivastava and Tripurari Ray for the presidency.
