SEBI Announces Recruitment Drive for 49 Officer Grade A Positions Across Various Departments

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) announced on June 11 that it plans to hire 49 officers across various departments this year.

This recruitment drive aims to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of SEBI’s regulatory functions.

SEBI is seeking to recruit Officer Grade A (Assistant Manager) positions in several streams, including general, legal, information technology, research, official language, and engineering (electrical). “SEBI invites applications from Indian citizens for the post of Officer Grade A (Assistant Manager) across different streams. SEBI reserves the right to fill these positions or leave them vacant,” the regulator stated in its notification.

The breakdown of vacancies includes 34 positions in the general stream, 10 in information technology, two in legal, and one each in engineering (electrical), research, and official language.

The online application link will remain open until June 30. Interested candidates can review the eligibility criteria for each stream on SEBI’s website.

The selection process will occur in three phases starting July 27. Successful applicants will be notified via email and SMS about the availability of call letters for online examinations on the SEBI website.

The Phase I online examination is scheduled for July 27, followed by Phase II on August 31, except for Paper 2 of the Information Technology stream, which will be held on September 14. Phase III will consist of interviews, with dates to be communicated to shortlisted candidates.

SEBI has been steadily increasing its workforce in recent years. This recruitment follows a March call for applications for 97 senior-level posts. In July 2022, SEBI sought 25 senior-level executives for its information technology department. Previously, in January 2021, SEBI invited applications for 120 Officer Grade A (Assistant Manager) positions across various streams. In March 2020, SEBI advertised for 147 senior-level officials, attracting approximately 1.4 lakh applicants.

SEBI oversees business operations in stock exchanges and securities markets, registering and regulating various market intermediaries such as brokers, merchant bankers, registrars, portfolio managers, investment advisers, foreign portfolio investors, credit rating agencies, mutual funds, and venture capital funds.
