Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to appear before the MP-MLA court in Sultanpur on Friday for a hearing related to a defamation case
Congress district president Abhishek Singh Rana announced on Thursday that Gandhi, who serves as the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, is set to arrive at Lucknow airport at 9 AM on Friday before making his way to Sultanpur for the court appearance.
The defamation case was filed by local Bharatiya Janata Party leader Vijay Mishra on August 4, 2018. Mishra accused Gandhi of making objectionable remarks against Amit Shah, who was then the BJP president and is currently serving as Home Minister.
Earlier this year, on February 20, the court granted bail to Gandhi in connection with the case. Special Magistrate Shubham Verma has summoned Gandhi to appear in court on July 26 to record his statement.
