PM Narendra Modi, on Saturday, declared that terrorism is on the verge of being eradicated in Jammu and Kashmir, attributing the change to his government’s efforts in nurturing new leadership to replace the dynastic politics that had, in his words, “undermined the progress of this beautiful region.”
Speaking at an election rally in Doda, Jammu, ahead of the first phase of Assembly polls set for September 18, PM Modi expressed confidence in the collective efforts to make Jammu and Kashmir a “secure and prosperous” part of the nation.
He emphasized that after Independence, Jammu and Kashmir had become vulnerable to foreign influence, and the prevailing political families in the region had suppressed new leadership, focusing instead on promoting their own heirs. This, he said, weakened the region from within.
His government, he noted, shifted its focus to empowering young leaders shortly after coming to power in 2014. “Terrorism is in its final phase in Jammu and Kashmir,” he asserted, emphasizing the progress made under his administration.
