PM Modi Disqualification from Lok Sabha Elections Petition Dismissed by Delhi High Court

PM Modi Disqualification: The Delhi High Court dismissed a petition on Thursday seeking to disqualify Prime Minister Narendra Modi from participating in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, citing the allegations as “reckless” and “unsubstantiated.”

Justice Sachin Datta ruled that the petition, filed by Captain Deepak Kumar, was driven by malafide intentions and ulterior motives, rendering it unacceptable.

Captain Kumar’s petition accused Modi and his associates of attempting to compromise national security by orchestrating a fatal crash of an Air India flight in 2018, which Kumar had piloted.

“The petition is filled with vague, baseless, and reckless accusations. The inchoate nature of the pleadings and their tenor clearly indicate malafide and oblique motives,” the high court stated, describing the petition as completely absurd.

The court noted that the petition aimed to make scandalous allegations and therefore dismissed it. The petition also called for the disqualification of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.

Additionally, the plea accused the prime minister of making a “false” oath or affirmation before the returning officer to demonstrate his eligibility for the elections. The petitioner further alleged that Modi was involved in the destruction of evidence by influencing the sale of Air India Limited, which led to the cancellation of Kumar’s pilot’s license and the fabrication of his service records.
