NTA to Announce NEET-UG Re-Examination Results on June 30

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to release the results of the recent NEET-UG re-examination on June 30.

Candidates who participated in the re-test can check their scores on the official website exams.nta.ac.in/NEET once they are published.

Details of the Re-Examination

The NEET UG re-examination took place on June 23, 2024, for 1,563 candidates who were previously granted grace marks due to reported time losses during the initial examination on May 5. However, only 813 of these candidates appeared for the re-test. Attendance statistics included:

  • Chhattisgarh: 291 out of 602 candidates
  • Haryana: 287 out of 494 candidates
  • Meghalaya: 234 out of 464 candidates
  • Chandigarh: Both eligible candidates were absent
  • Gujarat: One student attended

Attendance and Irregularities

The NTA reported, “Only 52 percent of the total 1,563 candidates took the re-test on June 23. Total attendance was 813. At the two Jajjar centers, attendance was 58.09 percent, with 287 out of 494 candidates participating.”

Additionally, the NTA disclosed that 63 candidates nationwide were disqualified due to malpractices, including:

  • Bihar: 17 candidates
  • Godhra centers: 30 candidates

Background and Allegations

The re-examination was necessitated by allegations of irregularities, including paper leaks, during the NEET-UG. A total of 67 students achieved a perfect score of 720, an unprecedented event in NTA’s history, with six students from a center in Faridabad, Haryana, sparking further suspicion of irregularities.

Accusations of paper leaks and other malpractices emerged from states like Bihar, leading to protests in several cities and legal petitions in various high courts and the Supreme Court. Consequently, Bihar Police made several arrests in connection with these allegations.
