NGT Report Highlights Urgent Infrastructure Needs for Forest Fire Management in Uttarakhand

NEW DELHI: A recent report submitted to the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has revealed a significant lack of essential infrastructure in Uttarakhand for effective forest fire management. This finding emerged in relation to a case concerning leaf burning in the Badkot forest area along the Rishikesh-Dehradun Road.

In April, the NGT appointed advocate Gaurav Bansal as amicus curiae (friend of the court) to assist with the proceedings. The report, dated October 14 and presented to the NGT last week, emphasizes the urgent need to address critical deficiencies and violations that are obstructing efficient forest fire management in the state.
