The brother of Nawab Singh Yadav, who is accused of rape, has been granted bail by a local POCSO court on Friday.
He was charged by the police with attempting to coerce the aunt of the rape survivor to alter her statement and influence the investigation, according to a lawyer.
The ruling was made after special judge Alka Yadav examined the bail application submitted by Neelu Yadav, as stated by his attorney, Rakesh Tiwari. Tiwari asserted, “Neelu Yadav has been wrongfully implicated in this matter.
The victim did not mention him in her FIR or in any subsequent statements. Furthermore, there have been no interactions between Neelu Yadav and the victim’s aunt or any other individuals involved.”
He also noted that during a four-hour police remand, no evidence emerged to support the claims against Neelu Yadav, which ultimately resulted in the approval of his bail on Friday. In related developments, Kannauj police chief Amit Kumar Anand announced that the charge sheet against Nawab Singh Yadav has been submitted to the court.
Nawab Singh Yadav, a former block head of the Samajwadi Party, was arrested on August 12 for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh’s Kannauj under the pretense of offering her employment.
Reports indicate that the DNA of Nawab Singh Yadav has matched the sample collected in connection with the rape case. This incident has ignited a political controversy, with the ruling BJP claiming Nawab Singh Yadav’s ties to the Samajwadi Party, which has since distanced itself from him, asserting that he was expelled for anti-party activities several years ago.
