High Court Notice to Kareena Kapoor Khan Over ‘Pregnancy Bible’ Title Dispute
The Madhya Pradesh High Court has sent a notice to actor Kareena Kapoor Khan based on a petition filed by a citizen. The petitioner seeks the registration of a criminal case against her for using the word ‘Bible’ in the title of her pregnancy book.
The book, titled ‘Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Pregnancy Bible: The ultimate manual for moms-to-be’, was released in August 2021.
Advocate Christopher Anthony, in his petition, claimed that the book’s title has offended the religious sentiments of Christians. He argued that using the word ‘Bible’ in the title was a tactic to gain attention and was disrespectful.
Anthony contested an order from an additional sessions court that rejected his request to file a case against Kareena Kapoor.
The case is scheduled for its next hearing on July 1.
Originally, a resident of Jabalpur, Anthony had filed a complaint with the local police station. He alleged that the book’s title disrespected the Christian community by equating the Bible, a sacred text, with the actor’s pregnancy journey.
However, the police declined to file a case. Anthony then approached a magistrate’s court with a similar plea, which was also dismissed due to insufficient evidence of harm caused by the use of the word ‘Bible’.
Undeterred, he pursued the matter further by appealing to the Additional Sessions Court, which also ruled against him.
