Justice Nitin Madhukar Jamdar took oath as the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court on September 26, 2024, at a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, Thiruvananthapuram.
The oath was administered by Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in attendance.
Justice Jamdar, who was appointed as a judge of the Bombay High Court on January 23, 2012, has an esteemed legal career, particularly in administrative and constitutional law. He also played a key role in the digital transformation of the Bombay High Court, spearheading efforts in computerization and digitization. Outside of law, Justice Jamdar is known for his interest in natural history and photography.
The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended his elevation to Chief Justice of Kerala High Court on July 11, 2024. His appointment was confirmed by the Central Government on September 21, 2024. The swearing-in ceremony was live-streamed on YouTube for public viewing.
