JSA advised Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE)

JSA provided legal consultation to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy,  the Indian government, and the World Bank in formulating bid documents for granting sea-bed lease rights for offshore wind power projects of value over USD 1 billion.

Anticipated to exceed a deal value of USD 1 billion, this effort highlights India’s growing renewable energy sector and its commitment to global sustainability objectives.

Amit Kapur, the managing partner, and Kartikeya GS, the partner, spearheaded the JSA team’s efforts. JSA was instrumental in organizing the bid documents, which included a request for selection document, a concession agreement, and distinct lease agreements for both survey and development phases.

These documents, developed in line with the National Offshore Wind Policy of 2015 and the Offshore Wind Energy Lease Rules of 2023, also signify India’s first step into offshore wind power development.

The bidding initiative aims to establish a 4GW offshore wind energy capacity, resonating with India’s pledge to achieve net zero emissions by 2070.
