A special court has declined to grant anticipatory interim bail to Janata Dal (Secular) leader H.D. Revanna, who is accused of kidnapping a woman.
Additional City Civil and Sessions Judge Santhosh Gajanan Bhat dismissed Revanna’s application seeking interim bail in a case registered against him under sections 364 (A), 365, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
The court stated, “The complainant’s mother, who is also the victim, is yet to be located, and it would not be appropriate to discuss the invocation of Section 364-A of the IPC at this stage, as the court is only considering the interim bail application.”
According to the prosecution, a written complaint was filed at the K.R. Nagara Police Station on May 2, 2024, alleging that the complainant’s mother, who had previously worked in the house of accused No.1 for six years, was allegedly taken away by accused No.2, Satish Babanna, under the direction of accused No.1, H.D. Revanna.
The prosecution argued that the case had links to sexual assault and crimes committed by Revanna’s son, Prajwal Revanna, who allegedly recorded obscene acts and engaged in repeated sexual exploitation.
Senior Advocate Murthy D Naik represented Revanna, while Special Public Prosecutor B.N. Jagadish represented the respondent.
The court, considering the seriousness of the allegations and the fact that the victim had not yet been located, rejected Revanna’s application for interim anticipatory bail, emphasizing that the decision did not imply judgment on the case’s merits.
