Jackie Shroff Takes Legal Action to Safeguard His Name and Image

Jackie Shroff Seeks Delhi High Court Intervention to Protect Personal Rights

Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff has taken legal action by approaching the Delhi High Court to prevent firms, social media platforms, AI apps, and GIF-making platforms from using his name, voice, image, or any other attribute without his permission.

Justice Sanjeev Narula presided over the matter and issued summons to the defendants after a detailed hearing. The Court scheduled a hearing for May 15 to consider an interim injunction.

Advocate Pravin Anand represented Shroff in court, highlighting instances where offensive memes and misuse of his voice have occurred. Anand clarified that Shroff seeks to stop merchandising and defamatory uses of his personality, not parody or satire.

In his plea, Shroff seeks protection for his various names and attributes, asserting that their unauthorized use on any platform should be prohibited. He also requests the removal of links and websites infringing on his personality rights.

Shroff emphasizes the distinctive nature and commercial value of his persona, arguing against unauthorized use by third parties, which he claims creates confusion and damages his reputation.

The actor targets social media companies, GIF-making platforms like Google-owned Tenor and Giphy, and AI tools, seeking an injunction against their use of his attributes for commercial purposes.

Advocates Pravin Anand, Ameet Naik, Madhu Gadodia, Dhruv Anand, and Udita from Anand and Naik represent Jackie Shroff in this legal action.

Previously, similar interim orders were granted by the High Court in cases involving veteran actors Amitabh Bachchan and Anil Kapoor, protecting their personality and publicity rights.
