Isha Foundation: Tamil Nadu Police Updates Court on Missing Persons on March 21

Mystery Surrounds Missing Individuals Linked to Isha Foundation

The Madras High Court was briefed by the Tamil Nadu police on Thursday regarding six individuals reported missing from the Isha Foundation in Coimbatore since 2016. This information was disclosed during the hearing of a habeas corpus petition submitted by Thirumalai from Tirunelveli District, requesting the appearance of his brother Ganesan.

According to the Additional Public Prosecutor, an active investigation into these missing cases is ongoing. While some missing persons may have returned in certain instances, detailed information on these cases remains elusive. In response, the court directed the police to furnish a status report by April 8 and adjourned the proceedings accordingly.

Thirumalai, a farmer, approached the court after his brother Ganesan went missing in March 2023. He informed the court that his brother was engaged in charity work at the Isha Yoga Centre. Thirumalai discovered his brother’s absence when he contacted the Yoga Centre on March 2nd, 2023, and learned that Ganesan had been absent for two days.

Despite a police complaint filed by Dinesh, the individual in charge of the yoga centre, Thirumalai expressed dissatisfaction with the perceived lethargy and lack of action from the police. Consequently, he resorted to filing a habeas corpus petition, considering it his final recourse in the matter.
