India Advocates Dialogue and Diplomacy for Resolving Ukraine Conflict
Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized on Friday that India has not been a “neutral or indifferent bystander” in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict and remains firmly on the side of peace. During a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv, Modi reiterated India’s consistent stance that the war can only be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy. He also expressed India’s readiness to actively contribute to peace efforts, as reported by Reuters.
Following the meeting, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar provided further details, noting that much of the conversation between Modi and Zelenskyy centered on the war in Ukraine. He added that the prime minister called for practical engagement among all parties to develop innovative solutions for peace.
The two leaders also directed an inter-governmental commission to prioritize rebuilding trade and economic relations between India and Ukraine, Jaishankar concluded.
