Gang Rape Survivor has allegedly been instructed to remove her clothes by a Rajasthan Judge (magistrate) who has been accused under Section 345 (unlawful confinement) of the Indian Penal Code and the pertinent clauses of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
The Rajasthan police has lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against a judicial magistrate in Hindaun city, Ravindra Kumar, who allegedly asked a Dalit gang rape survivor to strip in court to show her injuries.
The incident involving the Rajasthan judge and the gang rape survivor occurred on March 30 when the gang rape survivor went to record her statement in a case.
Magistrate Ravindra Kumar has been booked under Section 345 (wrongful confinement) of the Indian Penal Code and also under relevant provisions of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act (SC/ST Act).
The gang rape survivor alleged, “The magistrate had called me to take my statement. I gave a full statement. I started coming out. Then he called me back, then he asked me to take off my clothes, then I said why should I take off my clothes, then he said that he wanted to see the injury marks on my body. I said I can’t open my clothes in front of you and if madam were there, I would have taken off my clothes,” the FIR stated.
The gang rape survivor’s statement has further intensified the demand for action against the Rajasthan judge. The incident has sparked outrage and brought the issue of women’s safety and dignity to the forefront.
