Dibrugarh Express Derailment: Rescue Operations Complete, Special Train Deployed for Assam Passengers; Probe Initiated

On Thursday, the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express train derailed near Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, leading to the derailment of eight of its coaches. The accident resulted in at least three deaths and over 30 injuries. The derailment occurred between Motiganj and Jhilahi railway stations, with early reports suggesting the train driver heard a “blast” before the incident.

In response to the derailment, rescue operations were swiftly carried out, although they were briefly hindered by adverse weather conditions. Medical teams and ambulances were dispatched to the scene to assist the injured.

A special train has been arranged to transport 600 passengers to Assam, ensuring their safe return. The deceased victims have been identified as Saroj Kumar Singh, a 31-year-old from Araria, Bihar, Rahul, a 38-year-old from Chandigarh, and one unidentified individual.

The exact cause of the derailment is still under investigation, and authorities have initiated a probe to determine the circumstances leading to the accident.
