Delhi High Court Questions Tree Transplantation Plans Amid Rising Pollution Concerns

Delhi High Court Raises Concerns Over Tree Transplantation Amid Rising Pollution Levels

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has voiced reservations about a proposal to transplant over 70 trees from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) campus for a new construction project, citing alarming pollution levels in the capital.

Justice Jasmeet Singh remarked that relocating trees would not effectively address the city’s severe air quality issues. The court also referenced the current AQI levels and requested AIIMS to submit the structural plan for its upcoming Critical Care Centre, which involves the removal of 75 trees, along with its transplantation strategy.
