Delhi High Court Issues Notice to Tihar Jail, ED on Arvind Kejriwal’s Plea for Additional Legal Meetings

Delhi High Court to Hear Kejriwal’s Plea for Additional Legal Meetings on July 15

The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to Tihar Jail authorities and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding a plea by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal seeking permission for additional meetings with his legal team. Justice Neena Bansal Krishna called for responses from both Tihar Jail and the ED following Kejriwal’s assertion that he is facing 35 court cases across the country and requires extra meetings to strategize with his legal team.

Currently, Kejriwal is permitted two meetings per week with his legal team. He initially approached the trial court requesting two additional meetings, citing the need to prepare for over 30 cases nationwide. Although Kejriwal suggested these meetings could be held via virtual conference, Special Judge (PC Act) Kaveri Baweja denied the plea, noting a similar request had been previously rejected.

Kejriwal has since appealed to the High Court against the special court’s decision. The next hearing is scheduled for July 15.
