Delhi High Court Grants Engineer Rashid Interim Bail to Lead Campaign for J&K Polls

Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid, currently jailed under UAPA, gets interim relief to rally for Awami Ittehad Party in upcoming J&K elections

A Delhi High court has granted interim bail to Engineer Rashid, the Member of Parliament from Baramulla, who is currently held in Tihar Jail under UAPA charges for alleged terror-funding. The bail is set to last until October 2, allowing him to campaign for the Awami Ittehad Party in the upcoming Jammu & Kashmir assembly elections.

The elections, taking place in three phases from September 18 to October 1, will see Rashid actively participate. Despite being jailed, he won the Baramulla Lok Sabha seat, defeating former J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah by over two lakh votes. Rashid’s earlier campaign efforts were managed by his sons, Abrar and Asrar Rashid.
