Holiday for General Elections 2024: May 25 Observes Judicial Pause as Delhi Goes to Polls; Legal Proceedings Shift to May 27
The Delhi High Court has announced that May 25 will be observed as a holiday for both the High Court itself and the subordinate courts, due to the General Elections 2024. This decision was conveyed through a notification issued by Registrar General Kanwal Jeet Arora. Cases originally scheduled for May 25, including those where orders or judgments were pending, will now be heard on May 27, in addition to the cases already slated for that day.
The parliamentary elections, ongoing since April 19, will see Delhi voting on May 25, marking the sixth phase of the process to elect seven members to the 18th Lok Sabha. These elections, a crucial part of the democratic process in the world’s largest democracy, are set to conclude on June 1, with counting scheduled for June 4.
