A Delhi court has ordered the police to file an FIR against a man accused of submitting forged medical documents to extend his interim bail.
Additional Sessions Judge Sugandha Aggarwal was hearing the case of Trilok Chand Chaudhary, who faced charges of cheating, forgery, and criminal conspiracy in a case lodged by the Economic Offences Wing (EoW).
Chaudhary had initially been granted a four-week interim bail on medical grounds on August 3. He later requested an extension, claiming that he was in a “vulnerable” condition, citing 100% heart blockage and uncontrolled diabetes.
However, the court found inconsistencies in the medical reports submitted. While a doctor had advised coronary angiography and stent insertion after stabilizing his blood sugar levels, the same doctor had discharged Chaudhary on September 2, stating that his condition was stable.
Upon verifying the September 11 medical report, the investigating officer revealed that Chaudhary had not visited the doctor on that date, and the report lacked the doctor’s seal. The handwriting and signature were also inconsistent with previous documents.
Chaudhary’s counsel argued that his client had seen a junior doctor, but the court noted the absence of any junior doctor’s name or signature on the report. The judge concluded that Chaudhary had submitted a forged prescription to manipulate the court’s decision, ultimately rejecting his plea for bail extension.
The court directed the Saket police station’s SHO to register an FIR against Chaudhary and carry out an investigation into the matter.
