CJI DY Chandrachud to Unveil India’s First Digital Court for Cheque Bounce Cases and Launch E-Court Initiatives in Kerala

CJI DY Chandrachud to Inaugurate India’s First Digital Court and Launch Key E-Court Innovations in Kerala

Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud is set to inaugurate India’s first digital court dedicated to cases under the Negotiable Instruments Act on August 16, Friday. This pioneering digital court, which will focus on handling cheque bounce cases from Kollam, will be officially launched at the Kerala High Court.

The event will also feature the rollout of several transformative technology-driven initiatives aimed at improving judicial efficiency and accessibility:

1. Online Dispute Resolution System: The Kerala Judiciary will introduce “We-Solv Vimaal Solution Maker,” an innovative platform designed to facilitate online dispute resolution. This system aims to streamline the process, enhance efficiency, and ensure greater transparency in handling disputes.

2. Model Digital Courtroom: The Kerala High Court will unveil a state-of-the-art digital courtroom, crafted to address the limitations of traditional courtrooms by leveraging advanced internet and computer technologies.

3. Heritage and Educational Projects: The occasion will see the launch of multiple projects focused on preserving historical sites and enhancing judicial education. These include the Restoration Project of the Ram Mohan Palace Complex, the Digital Library and Research Centre, and the Learning Management System (LMS) for the Kerala Judicial Academy.

Additional highlights of the event include:

– Digital District Courts Announcement: The launch of new Digital District Courts will be announced, along with the annual report of the Kerala Judicial Academy.

– Special Courts Inauguration: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate Special Courts in Ernakulam and Alappuzha dedicated to cases under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and the Banning of Unregulated Deposit Schemes Act, 2019, respectively.

– CCTV Surveillance System: Finance Minister KN Balagopal will unveil a comprehensive CCTV Surveillance System, including a modern Control Room within the High Court complex.

– New Security-cum-Facilitation Block: State Minister for Law, Industries, and Coir, P Rajeev, will inaugurate a new Security-cum-Facilitation Block at the High Court Complex.

On August 17 (Saturday), the initiatives will continue with the inauguration of a new Arbitration Centre at the Kerala High Court by Union Minister of State for Law and Justice, Arjun Ram Meghwal. Additionally, the Minister for Public Works and Tourism, PA Mohamed Riyas, will launch a dedicated website for the new Arbitration Centre.
