Chennai Auditor Arrested for Posing as Bombay High Court Judge and Causing Commotion

The Thoothukudi SIPCOT police have arrested a Chennai-based auditor for impersonating a Bombay High Court Judge and causing a disturbance at the District Police Office on Tuesday

According to police sources, the man arrived at the District Police office on Tuesday in a car and introduced himself to the receptionist, Mariammal, as a ‘Judge’ of the Bombay High Court. He requested a meeting with the Superintendent of Police. When Mariammal asked him to show his identity card, he refused and started arguing with her.

Mariammal promptly alerted the Thoothukudi SIPCOT Police, leading Sub-Inspector Sivakumar to the scene. The man was identified as Bhaskar, 57, an auditor from Karpagambal Nagar in Kottivaakkam, Chennai.

During the investigation, it was revealed that Bhaskar, accompanied by his friend Ramachandran from Coimbatore, had earlier visited the Meignanapuram police station. There, he had tried to use his false identity as a ‘Judge’ to pressure the Sub-Inspector into favoring his friend in a case. The Sub-Inspector, however, stated that he would follow the law in handling the case.

Frustrated by this response, Bhaskar went to Thoothukudi to meet the SP and lodge a complaint against the Meignanapuram Police Station Sub-Inspector. This led to his arrest for impersonating a High Court Judge.

In addition to arresting Bhaskar, the police also seized his car. (Source: The Hindu)
