In response to allegations of a NEET-UG paper leak, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has ramped up its investigation into the Oasis School in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand
On Wednesday, the CBI interrogated school staff and the principal as part of their ongoing probe.
A 12-member CBI team arrived in Hazaribagh on Tuesday evening. On Wednesday, they visited the school and also the main branch of the State Bank of India (SBI) in the district, as the bank manager was reportedly the custodian of the question papers, according to PTI reports.
The CBI questioned Dr. Ehsanul Haque, principal of Oasis School and district coordinator of the NEET-UG exam in Hazaribagh, for several hours. He was later taken to a guest house in Charhi, Hazaribagh, where he and several others were reportedly questioned until late in the evening. According to sources, Dr. Haque and another individual were released after the interrogation.
CBI Investigation in Patna
In a related development, the Special CBI court in Patna placed two accused in the NEET question paper leak case on CBI remand. Baldev Kumar, also known as Chintu, and Mukesh Kumar were remanded to CBI custody for further questioning. Currently, 18 individuals are in custody as part of the investigation.
The hearing took place before CBI Special Judicial Magistrate Harsh Vardhan Singh, who granted the CBI’s request for remand. The CBI will now further interrogate Chintu Kumar and Mukesh Kumar as the investigation continues.
