Bombay High Court Grants Bail to Munib Memon in 2012 Pune Blast Case

The Bombay High Court granted bail to Munib Memon on Friday, an accused in the 2012 blast case in Pune’s J M Road area.

Memon requested bail due to his prolonged detention and the delayed trial. The high court had previously denied his bail request in February last year but instructed the lower court to complete the trial by December 2023.

As the trial did not conclude as scheduled, Memon approached the high court again for bail. A division bench led by Justice Revati Mohite Dere approved his request.

On August 1, 2012, four coordinated low-intensity explosions occurred in the J M Road area, injuring one individual. Additional bombs planted at two other locations were successfully defused. Nine individuals were arrested in connection with the case, with authorities alleging that the Indian Mujahideen terror organization was responsible for the attacks.
