BMW Accident Worli Case: Shiv Sena Removes Leader After Son’s Arrest in Fatal Worli Hit-and-Run Case

BMW Accident Worli Case: Three days after a hit-and-run incident in Worli that resulted in the death of a 45-year-old woman and injuries to her husband, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) removed Rajesh Shah, father of the accused Mihir Shah, from his position as deputy leader of the party.

The decision came on Wednesday, following orders from Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, as reported by ANI.

The removal of Rajesh Shah comes shortly after his son Mihir was arrested by Mumbai Police. Mihir Shah, along with Rajesh Shah’s driver Rajrishi Bidawat and other accused individuals, has been charged under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder).

The incident occurred on the morning of July 7 and was captured on CCTV. The footage shows Kaveri Nakhwa, who was riding pillion on a two-wheeler, being dragged by a BMW car for 1.5 kilometers before the car stopped (BMW Accident Worli Case

Mihir Shah and Bidawat are seen pulling the woman off the bonnet, placing her on the road, and then swapping seats. Bidawat then ran over the victim while reversing the car before fleeing the scene.

In response to public outrage, especially from the Opposition, Shiv Sena head Eknath Shinde assured that no one involved would be spared. Aaditya Thackeray, a leader from Shiv Sena (UBT), demanded that the incident be treated as murder rather than a hit-and-run.

“This case should not be treated as a hit-and-run incident. This is a case of murder, and we demand that it should be treated like that,” Thackeray stated.
