Court Sentences 12 to Life Imprisonment for Murder of Astrologer Ramesh Tiwari, Former Advisor to Mulayam Singh Yadav
A local court on Tuesday sentenced 12 individuals to life imprisonment for their involvement in the murder of astrologer Ramesh Tiwari. The ruling was delivered by Additional Sessions Judge (IV) Rupali Saxena, who found all 12 accused, including the shooter Vipul, guilty and imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 on each of them.
According to District Government counsel Satish Chandra Pandey, Tiwari, who was the astrologer for former Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, was fatally shot on November 15, 2012, in Unchagaon, located within the Sarpathan police station area. Two assailants, disguised as police officers, entered Tiwari’s home and killed him using a carbine and pistol, leaving his brother Rajesh injured in the attack.
The deceased’s brother, Umesh Tiwari, filed a case against unknown perpetrators. During the investigation, several individuals were identified as being involved in the murder plot, including shooter Vipul Singh, Dhirendra Singh, Jharkhande Singh, Subedar Singh, Kaushal Kishore Singh, Vijay Bahadur Singh, Virendra Bahadur Singh, Lal Shankar Upadhyay, Amit alias Pandit, Arvind, Shailendra, Tannu Singh, Sher Bahadur Singh, and Amarjit Singh.
Pandey noted that during the trial, Jharkhande Singh passed away, and shooter Sher Bahadur Singh was killed in a police encounter. Ramesh Tiwari was a well-known astrologer with connections to prominent politicians and top officials. He also maintained ashrams in Valsad and Surat, Gujarat.
