Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized that the Jammu region would play a crucial role in deciding the formation of the next government in the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections
Speaking at a rally in the Ploura area of Jammu North, Shah urged the people to ensure a decisive victory for BJP candidates, particularly in the 11 constituencies in Jammu district scheduled to vote in the final phase of the elections.
Polling will take place on September 18, 25, and October 1, with the counting of votes set for October 8. Shah declared that the era when others determined the government in J&K is over, and that Jammu now has the power to shape the region’s future. He called on BJP supporters to secure such a strong victory that their opponents lose their security deposits.
Highlighting the achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, Shah noted that over Rs 32,000 crore has been allocated for the development of the Jammu region in the last decade. He also mentioned ongoing power projects worth over Rs 25,200 crore aimed at making Jammu and Kashmir energy surplus.
Shah criticized the NC-Congress alliance, accusing them of promoting a divisive agenda and warning that their return to power would bring back an era of discrimination and corruption. He also cited the BJP’s efforts to meet long-standing demands, such as declaring a holiday on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh, the last Dogra ruler.
Shah urged BJP workers to pledge their commitment to the party’s success and to ensure that they and their families, along with three other families, cast their votes for the BJP by 11 am on polling days.
He also credited the Modi government with improving security in the region, referencing the peaceful conduct of the Amarnath Yatra, which saw over 5.12 lakh pilgrims this year. Additionally, Shah emphasized the progress made in restoring democracy at the grassroots level through local body elections.
In his closing remarks, Shah highlighted the 25 guarantees in the BJP manifesto and encouraged supporters to work diligently for the party’s victory.
