Actor Jayasurya Responds to Sexual Assault Allegations, Vows to Prove Innocence

“Jayasurya Breaks Silence: ‘A Lie Travels Faster Than the Truth, But I Will Prove My Innocence'”

Facing serious allegations of sexual assault, Malayalam actor Jayasurya has announced he will address the accusations legally and return to India from the United States as soon as possible.

In an Instagram post, Jayasurya thanked his supporters for their birthday wishes and for standing by him during this difficult time. “My family and I have been in the U.S. for the past month due to personal commitments, and during this time, two false allegations of sexual harassment have been made against me,” the actor wrote. He expressed how deeply the allegations have affected him and his family, assuring his followers that his legal team will handle the case moving forward.

Jayasurya lamented how easily false accusations can be made, stating, “Facing a false accusation of harassment is just as painful as the harassment itself.” He added, “A lie always travels faster than the truth, but I believe truth will prevail.” The actor promised to return to India once his commitments in the U.S. are completed and reaffirmed his trust in the judicial system, vowing to prove his innocence. “Thank you to those who made this birthday the most painful one,” he concluded.

What are the allegations?

The Kerala police registered a second sexual assault case against Jayasurya after a female actor accused him of molestation on a movie set near Thodupuzha in 2012-2013. The First Information Report (FIR), filed at the Karamana police station, charges the actor under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for assault with intent to outrage a woman’s modesty. Additionally, Section 354C, which addresses voyeurism, has also been invoked against him.

These allegations come as more female actors within the Malayalam film industry have begun speaking out about their experiences following the Hema committee report, which exposed widespread sexual abuse in the industry.
