Bombay High Court Denies Pre-Arrest Bail to Man Accused of Assaulting Senior Citizen
MUMBAI: The Bombay High Court has denied pre-arrest bail to Akash Avhad, who is accused of violently attacking a 71-year-old man on an express train, suspecting him of carrying beef. The court noted that the senior citizen was “mercilessly assaulted.”
In an order dated October 18, Justice R. N. Laddha emphasized that Avhad’s custodial interrogation may be necessary as the investigation is still in its early stages.
“The victim, a senior citizen of approximately 71 years, was brutally assaulted. Given the investigation’s nascent stage, the applicant’s custodial interrogation is essential to facilitate further inquiry,” the court stated.
