Delhi High Court to Speaker: Respond to MLA Tanwar’s Disqualification Challenge

Delhi High Court Requests Speaker’s Response on MLA Tanwar’s Disqualification Challenge

NEW DELHI: On Friday, the Delhi High Court requested a response from the Speaker’s office regarding a petition filed by MLA Kartar Singh Tanwar, who is contesting his disqualification from the legislative assembly.

Justice Sanjeev Narula issued a notice to the office of the Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly in light of Tanwar’s appeal and scheduled the matter for further hearing on December 9.

Tanwar, who was elected from the Chhatarpur constituency on an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ticket in 2020, was disqualified by Speaker Ram Niwas Goel on September 24, citing the anti-defection law as the basis for the decision. The case will now proceed with the Speaker’s office expected to respond to the allegations made by Tanwar.
